The Riverside Markets were started over 19 years ago with approximately thirty Artists. Brisbane city was not open for Sunday trading until after Expo. The only city venues open were the theatres. With the coming of Expo the Riverside Markets had developed into a sizeable Crafts Market winning two Tourism Awards and becoming the main attraction in the city on Sundays. We have sponsored many artists who have gone on to be famous or alternatively become thriving businesses. The markets are a testing ground for small business, giving creative people the opportunity to put their foot in and test the water, without huge risks. We have furniture makers, woodworkers, glass blowers, leather workers, jewellers, artists, fashion designers, photographers, knitters, doll makers, alternative therapies, masseurs, stained glass Purveyors, speciality sauces, jams and spices, quality bakers, patisserie, flowers and growers, fruit and vegetables, Aboriginal Art of all varieties, sculptures, metal workers and often very unusual products as well as international ethnic craft. There is always live, free entertainment provided and a relaxed, carnival
atmosphere. Many of the marketeers have been with us since the commencement
of these markets. When Every Sunday (except Xmas and New Years Days)7:00am
